We come to your home and pick up your door or doors. We install plywood to close up your door or doors opening. I know your first thought is, you can envision riding down the road and seeing boarded up apartments and homes where they simply put some plywood over the front door opening and windows and most everyone has this idea of oh my goodness, that will look terrible. But we don't simply come nail plywood up on the front of your home and leave with your door.
When we leave with your door or doors as in this case the front of your home would look something like this.
Our 9 Step Process:
1. Remove All Hardware Locks Hinges, Strip down to raw wood.
2. Repair damaged areas ie.. Bee Holes or dings
3. Sand Completely with 3 separate grits of sandpaper
4. Wash door with solvent to remove any contaminants.
5. Stain with highly Pigmented slow to fade "Gemini" Stain
6. 4 coats of UV protected "Urethane" Finish sanding between each coat
7. Re install all hardware locks and hinges with new vinyl door bottom
8. Bring your door home to you replacing all of your vinyl weather-stripping

We come in and install Painted plywood that fits into your frame just as the door does. We use brad nails and we shoot these nails through your old vinyl weather stripping to secure the plywood to your frame. That way your door is sealed around the top and sides just as if your door was there. In this case we had 2 doors and we installed a fake T-astragal in the center and we also place a strip across the bottom to stiffen the bottom. we also make sure we fix it so that your alarm system will not show a fault for the front door. This method is very secure. It is no easier to knock this down than it would be to kick in your door. Also if someone does break in the alarm would work just as if there were doors there. What about the vinyl weather stripping that has all those nail holes in it you might ask? Well, we replace all of your vinyl weather stripping when we re-install your doors, that's a part of our service. So your doors look new and so does your generally paint stained, worn and tattered vinyl weather stripping.
We then take your door or doors to our shop and we completely strip your doors down to the wood (exterior), after we have completely taped up your glass and removed your locks, hinges and any other hardware. These doors are ready for their new finish.
These doors are now finished and ready to clean them up and reinstall all the locks and hinges back on them.

Cleaning them up removing the tape and paper.

We now have them all put back together and we are back at your home, we have removed the plywood and installed new fresh vinyl weather stripping and installed your doors and adjusted them to fit and lock like brand new doors.

It generally takes us 4 - 7 days depending on what your door needs and we guarantee you that when we give you a return date, we will be back to re install them on or before that date (unless it flooding or 20 degrees that day)
You also should take a hard look at your current door hardware and make sure that it will look good on that newly refinished door. The best time to replace that hardware (locks, hinges and slide bolts) is while we have your door in re finishing process is change out that old nasty looking hardware. We can then bring back your door with the new hardware already installed for you at no extra charge!
